In a decisive runoff election, ultra-conservative candidate José Antonio Kast has clinched the presidency in Chile.
A Resounding Victory
After more than 99% of polling stations reporting, Kast secured 58.17% of the ballots, defeating leftist former minister Jeannette Jara, who obtained 41.83%.
This represents Kast's third bid for the presidency, having earlier been beaten by the incumbent president, Gabriel Boric, in the 2021 runoff.
