Former Physician Accused of Assault Charges Against 38 Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a former physician stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

Details of the Grave Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Offences

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Police are urging anyone with concerns to get in touch with the relevant police force.
